Hi ladies!
Congratulations on a great job yesterday at our first meet. We had a number of very pleasant surprises, both to the coaches and a few athletes as well. It was fun to see people finish the long jump and come away beaming about what they had just done. We still have a lot of work to do, but this was a great way to kick off the competition season.
Our meet next Saturday is at Wheaton Warrenville South. The meet starts at 9:00, so the bus is at 7:30. This is a new meet for them and us both, and I believe there will be four schools in it but I'm not sure who the other two will be. I also don't have an order of events yet, but we'll still plan on posting the line up Thursday. That's the same place where indoor DVC was last year.
One thing we do need to work on is cleaning up the locker room and shutting off the showers in the morning. When you guys leave it in a mess with the showers running, I'm the one that gets chewed out and I don't even use the place. Make your mothers proud (or maybe amazed?).
Don't forget that tomorrow's practice is from 7-9, so you get to sleep a little later. Tomorrow will be speed work and medicine balls, and the rest of the week will follow our usual pattern. Coach Wilson wants to open up the pit again, and since all we found were a few feathers we can play in the sand again. (I thought Kathleen was going to bring her little plastic shovel and bucket.) I think Coach Wilson said something about finding a dead rat in there that she buried again just to see who would land on it, but I'm not sure.
Time for the Daytona 500!!
